History
A Lasting World launched on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2001. ALW's cofounders met because of a shared admiration for an organization with a special environmental mission and focus. ALW is a strong and active grassroots environmental organization with a worldwide membership of over 100 individuals. A Lasting World set goals and objectives standing for all that is good, honest and decent about the Earth, and for all the Earth's inhabitants.
A Lasting World Inc. is an 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-for-profit organization.
Mission Statement
The mission of A Lasting World is to educate and inspire people to take positive environmental action at the grassroots level, while promoting long-term care for the Earth.
Goals and Objectives
1. To provide hands-on environmental activities and events such as tree plantings, clean-up days, conferences and programs in order to provide its members with effective means of protecting the environment.
2. To sponsor an annual, all-expenses-paid summer environmental camp for underprivileged Appalachian youth in the state of Kentucky.
3. To sponsor a holiday giving project for poverty-stricken Appalachian families in Kentucky.
4. To provide environmental education through a monthly on-line newsletter, through an environmental website, and through sponsored environmental lectures, workshops, family hikes, classroom visits, and other events.
5. To provide fundraising opportunities that promote the environment and that benefit the people of Appalachia, Kentucky.
In appreciation of the Earth's bountiful blessings, in gratitude to the founding members of the Just Within Reach Foundation (JWR) who have inspired and encouraged us to step out of our own little world to help the entire planet, and in the spirit of true friendship and real love, we remain.
